Meet LaToya J. Abram-Payton, a multifaceted individual who wears many hats as an author, wife, mother of three, and entrepreneur. With over two decades of teaching experience, LaToya recognized the critical stage of development for children in pre-K to 5 regarding emotions. Observing the shift towards electronic devices for reading sources, she ingeniously crafted the "A Colorful Emotions Story: An Augmented Reality Experience" series, bridging the gap between technology and literacy and getting children to express their emotions effectively. Her series stands as the epitome of the future of books, providing scholars with a vibrant and engaging learning experience.
Mrs. Abram-Payton's educational journey is extensive, graduating from Barton College with a bachelor’s degree in social work and earning a master’s degree in Family/Marriage Counseling from Liberty University. She is also a licensed teacher specializing in Birth to Kindergarten. She has served as a facilitator for elementary S.T.E.A.M. Currently, in the dissertation phase of her doctorate studies in Curriculum and Instructions, LaToya is enthusiastic about the outcome as she collects data for her book series/curriculum.
Notably, Mrs. Abram-Payton has been recognized with two prestigious awards. First, she received an Outstanding Teacher Award presented in Vegas, where she had the opportunity to speak on various panels and forums. Additionally, she earned the 2023 Communicator Award for best B2B Mobile Apps & Sites in the General-Education category.
Mrs. Payton's national reach expanded significantly when she graced the screens of the USA Network's popular show, "America’s Big Deal," in December 2022. She showcased her innovative product: "The Comfy Bath Kneeler and Armrest!" She has also branded The Comfy Baby Bag & Co-sleeper (a baby bag that converts to a bassinet). She has written six children's books, helping children gain Emotional Intelligence through Augmented Reality—letting them know it is OK to feel!
Looking ahead, Mrs. Payton envisions herself as a consultant for community organizations, aiming to teach children practical, emotional expression and instill the understanding that it's okay to feel.
